Youth Fire Setting Intervention
The Youth Fire Setting Intervention Program is a Valley wide, standardized initiative designed to reduce the frequency and severity of youth fire setting behavior in the Treasure Valley. By working in partnership with the Kuna Fire District and other agencies, the program offers prevention education, early intervention, and referrals when necessary, providing support to both youth and their families.
At the core of the program is a centralized referral system that helps coordinate assessments and access to appropriate treatment resources. This collaborative approach addresses the underlying causes of youth fire setting behavior and mitigates its often-devastating consequences.
Effective prevention begins with understanding. Educational efforts must be thoughtfully targeted, appropriately designed, and skillfully delivered to make a lasting impact. Recognizing what drives a youth’s behavior is key—because identifying the motivation behind youth fire setting is often the first step toward meaningful intervention and lasting change.
