Captain Benjamin Sterling

Benjamin Sterling has been a dedicated member of the Kuna Fire District since 2016 and currently serves as an Engine Captain at Kuna Station 1, as well as the district’s Fire Investigator. With a career rooted in empathy, dedication, and service, Benjamin believes these qualities are essential to making a meaningful difference in the fire service.
His journey began in 1998 as a Fire Explorer, which led to his first significant fire experience as a wildland firefighter on a 20-person Type 2 IA crew. Benjamin spent nine seasons working as a private contractor, traveling throughout the western United States—from Washington to Colorado—gaining extensive wildland firefighting experience. Wildland fire remains a passion he continues to pursue with the Kuna Fire District.
Benjamin has advanced his expertise through specialized training at the National Fire Academy in Maryland, where he studied fire investigation and electrical fires. Beyond emergency response, he is deeply committed to service and leadership within the fire community. For the past five years, he has helped raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Firefighter Stair Climb in Seattle and currently serves as Treasurer for the Kuna Firefighters Local 4165.
Outside of the fire service, Benjamin enjoys restoring old trucks, mountain biking in the foothills, and building LEGO sets with his daughter.
